Inspirational Lemonade Maker: Mary Wilkinson
It is said that we all have a book in us and many of us harbour a dream to become an author, but few of us follow that dream into print. I was keen to speak with Mary Wilkinson who has turned her idea for a book into a reality. Her book is on a topic directly related to the work I do but it’s appeal is such I would have enjoyed reading it regardless.
Mary Wilkinson is the author of Defying Disability, a really readable book that explores the lives and legacies of nine disabled leaders. What is interesting is each of the people profiled have achieved success but often in different ways and by taking different approaches.
I talk with Mary about how she went about writing a book and getting it published. We also discuss leadership in the disability movement and look back over her career as editor of Disability Now.
